2017-03-15 10:05:08: #StopAdani delegation in India takes letter from 90+ prominent Australians. Thanks to our people-powered movement, Adani can’t find a private investor to back this climate-wrecking project. Dozens of major banks have ruled out working with Adani, including the 4 big Australian banks, and all the big Chinese banks. Adani have been forced to pay for the mine themselves and have subsequently had to scale back the size of the mine.

$1 billion dollars for a billionaire? Yeah, no thanks. When Resources Minister Matt Canavan proposed the insane idea of giving Adani $1 billion of taxpayer money to fast-track the Carmichael project, furious Australians leapt into action. Through creative community actions and a big push during the QLD state election, our movement convinced the QLD Government to veto the Coalition’s billion-dollar handout for Adani.

In 2012 there were 9 coal mines proposed in the Galilee Basin and 7 coal port expansions proposed along the coast of Queensland. Today, not a single coal mine or coal port expansion has gone ahead. In fact, there's only one thing standing between our people-powered movement and ensuring that not a single tonne of coal is mined from the Galilee Basin - and that's Adani's coal mine.
