Living in Armidale NSW Australia, we aim to raise awareness of the implications of climate change and the depletion of natural resources, to build networks, and inspire and empower our community to build a more self-reliant, resilient and sustainable future. We are made up of action groups each with a specific focus, currently these are:

Wildlife Habitat
Boomerang Bags
Community Garden
Armidale Local Food
Reduce, Re-use, Recycle
Armidale Urban Rivercare Group*
Armidale Action on CSG And Mining

SLA is a volunteer organisation that depends on the energy of its members, so please get involved and join one of the above action groups by clicking on the link and joining its mailing list.

Sustainable Living Armidale is a group of people committed to bringing about the changes needed at the community level to improve resilience in the face of the twin challenges of peak oil and climate change.

We seek to actively support our local council in its decision making processes and we are represented on two of the council’s committees: the Bicycle Committee and the Domestic Energy Working Party. We have established, via membership, formal links with Southern New England Landcare and the Armidale and District Business Chamber.

In 2009, SLA decided to become an incorporated association. We developed a constitution (see Association Information page) and held our inaugural general meeting on Tuesday 4th August 2009. On incorporation we became legally known as Sustainable Living Armidale Inc.

SLA grew out of the Ideas Into Action Workshops that were part of the inaugural Sustainable Living Expo in 2007
