Welcome to CANWin (Climate Action Now! Wingecarribee), a non-partisan community group in the Southern Highlands of NSW.

CANWin works to minimise climate change and prepare for the effects of peak oil.

We recognise that none of us can do this alone, but together we “must be the change we want to see in the world” (Mahatma Ghandi).

CANWin runs regular public events, such as speaker nights, film nights, and our recent Clean Energy Future workshop. We research and prepare information sheets for members and the public on scientific and technical matters that affect the sustainability of life on the Highlands. CANWin initiatives include programs such as Fruit Rescue and Community Exchange Southern Highlands, and we collaborate with many other local groups that share our vision for a united, resilient and sustainable community.

One of our oldest and most exciting ventures is Transition Shire Wingecarribee, part of the world-wide Transition Network. TSW works to bring climate change and peak oil to the attention of locals, and to function as a catalyst and/or support for community groups and action as we work towards a more locally-based, resilient and mindful community.

We welcome your involvement in any form and to any level. You can simply monitor this site, or you can join in by commenting on articles. You can volunteer for a current working group or for one-off activities as they come up. You can become a member of the group, or even stand for the committee, and play a very active role.

CANWin (Climate Action Now Wingecarribee) works with the local community to minimise climate change and prepare for life without fossil fuel.

We recognise that none of us can do this alone, but together we can make real changes. CANWin is one of thousands of local action groups building a new world under the noses of the old.
Here on the NSW Southern Highlands, climate change can seem like somebody else’s problem… at least until the insurance and power bills arrive.

But climate change affects everything, from water and food to buildings and transport.

CANWin helps people understand what’s going on and choose how to do something about it.
