History of group

Since 2011 the Port Augusta community has been fighting for a just transition to solar thermal in Port Augusta creating new clean jobs and delivering solar power day and night.

2016 is the year to make it happen.

A leading US solar thermal company wants to build a version of their world leading US solar thermal plant just north of Port Augusta. All we need to make it happen is political leadership from the South Australian and Federal Government.

With the South Australian Government stepping up as a buyer of low-carbon energy and the Federal Government having the Australian Renewable Energy Agency to fund projects like this we’ve never been this close to winning.

One year ago today was a huge moment in Port Augusta and South Australia's history. After a long community campaign Port Augusta secured Australia's biggest solar thermal plant with storage to be built creating new jobs and clean energy after Jay Weatherill & SolarReserve signed an agreement to make it happen!

With the project going through the final stages of financing, we're expecting to see shovels in the ground soon.

Thank you everyone who stood with us to make this happen!
