Description
Formed in 1999 on the Central Coast of New South Wales, OCCI has led the effort to permanently protect our coastline. We have been at the forefront of sustainability and want to raise the awareness and value of looking after our beautiful coastline with all its wonderful inhabitants. We have expanded our network and currently have three active arms: Port Stephens, Lake Macquarie/ Newcastle and the Central Coast.
Our Vision
A world in which the marine environment and the organisms that live there are respected, valued and understood.
Our Mission
To educate the community (residents and visitors) about the marine, estuarine and coastal environments
To promote the biodiversity in those environments
To participate in and/or promote programmes that conserves and protects those environments
Our Values
• to respect the organisms that live in the marine, estuarine and coastal environments
• to be innovative and creative in developing activities and programs which educate
the community about those environments
• to treat all OCCI members with respect and value their contribution
• to allow input from all OCCI members regarding the running of the organisation through constitutional channels
• to maintain a supportive social network for our members
• to create learning opportunities for our volunteers
• to manage our resources with efficiency and transparency to the best of our ability
